What is TumbleBookLibrary?
TumbleBooks are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. TBL also includes National Geographic videos and games. With a school licence, teachers and students have access to the Common Core Portal, quizzes and teacher materials/lesson plans!
How does TumbleBookLibrary work?
With a paid, 12 month subscription, the TBL collection is accessed online from every computer in your school or library with Internet connection, or from home through a direct link on your school or library website. Users can also access TBL from any reading tablet that has Flash Adobe 8.0+ and an internet connection such as Kindle Fire, Colour Nook & some Android smart phones. For customers using mobile devices that do not support Flash Player (iPad, iPhone and Android), we have implemented an automatic re-direct that automatically takes you to TumbleMobile. If you find yourself on the Flash site, however, simply choose "Mobile" from the drop down menu at the top right corner and click "Go".
Do I need a special software or app to view TumbleBooks? Are the eBooks downloaded?
All you need is the Flash plug-in which is preloaded on most computers and reading tablets. If you are unable to view the TumbleBooks, you can download the plug-in for FREE at www.adobe.com/go/getFlashPlayer. For mobile users (iPad, iPhone and Android) or any device that does not support Flash, our site will automatically redirect you to our "iPad& Mobile Device" site when you log in. However if you are not automatically redirected, simply choose "Mobile" from the drop down menu at the top right corner and click "Go". All of our content is streamed, not downloaded, so it never takes up space!

How much bandwidth do we need to view the books?
We recommend a high speed, broadband connection. This can be cable or DSL or faster. For institutions with multiple users; at least 0.5 mb per second (500kbps).
Is there a way to access our subscription without having to enter username/password?
Sure. We send all of our Tumblers a referred URL which you can post on your school/district/library website. Your students/teachers/patrons will only have to click on the TumbleBooks icon to access your entire TBL collection. These links can only appear on the subscriber's website, and should only be used from the institution, and from member's homes.
Is there a limit to the number of students who can access the collection at the same time? Or the number of times we can view each title?
No limit. Your subscription gives you unlimited access from as many computers/tablet devices as you have connected to the internet.
How often do you update your collection? Where can I find your titles?
As of 2013, TBL has 540 titles. We regularly add new titles throughout the year and they are automatically included with your subscription. Check out our Newsfeed for "Brand New" titles and "Coming Soon" titles! Click on "Index" to view all of our titles.
What are the different categories?
Story Books are our animated, talking picture books. Users have the option to automatically or manually turn the pages. iPad users please note that the iPad-compatible Story Books on the Mobile site have been converted to an mp4 video format and thus the auto/manual feature is not available.
Chapter Books/Read-Alongs are our early chapter books for older elementary readers. While there are no animations, the ebooks are narrated. They also include Chapter menus so that you can jump chapters, and a bookmarks and notes feature which are cookied onto your computer. Our Chapter Books also allow readers to change the colors of the background and text, as well as the font style, size, and line spacing. This helps our ebooks to be even more accessible to a wider range of readers.
Videos are from the world renowned National Geographic! Simply click on "Watch Online" to watch the 2-5 minute clips on various topics. Most of our videos have been paired with ebooks as a way to introduce a topic!
Featured is where teachers, librarians, parents, students, and TumbleBooks staff can recommended a book! It's a quick and easy way to find books on those rainy days!
Puzzles & Games accompany each book and reinforce concepts from the books, allowing for a fun and educational learning experience.
Language Learning is an easy way to access our French and Spanish titles!
Non-Fiction contains our growing collection of non-fiction titles in subjects like health, science, astronomy, biology, and nature!

Please note that this feature is cookied onto your computer. To access your customized playlist from any computer, create a MyCloud account and save your playlist there.
What is the Common Core Portal?
You can access the Common Core Portal through the link in the silver nav bar near the top of the page. The Common Core Portal allows teachers to click on a specific standard, and see which TumbleBooks (and related educator resources) we think best serve this standard.
I am on my iPad/iPhone/Android/etc and nothing works!
Our site should redirect all mobile users to the "iPad & Mobile Device" page. If you are having issues viewing an ebook (eg: you see a white screen where the book should be), you may have inadvertently landed on the "Flash" site. To make sure you are on the correct site, after you have logged in, check to see if the title in the site's header reads: "TumbleBookLibrary – For iPad and Mobile Devices". If it does not say this, click on "Choose" at the top right corner and select "Mobile" and then click "GO". Your page should refresh and now state "For iPad and Mobile Devices". Another way to check is to go to the "Story Books" section and check to see if the titles read as "TITLE (iPad)". For example: "50 Below Zero (IPad)".
My iPad will not allow me to change from auto to manual (eBooks)!
E-books are in an mp4 video format, and is not compatible with a manual reading format.
I can access eBooks but not Videos or Read-Alongs!
If you can access some content but not others, in most cases it is because some of our URL's cannot bypass your firewall settings. Ensure that it is allowing .swf files to stream/play…that they are not being blocked. Also, check to make sure that our urls are not blocked (anything ending in www.tumblebooks.com, cdn.tumblebooks.com, www.tumblebookcloud.com, www.tbcjr.com, mp3s.tumblebooks.com, mp3z.tumblebooks.com, www.vzaar.com and view.vzaar.com.
What is MyCloud?
This feature allows teachers/students/parents to create secondary logins and create customized playlists that can be access from any computer! Please note that this is a closed circuit feature and this password recovery is dependent on the correct username inputted. We do not have control over or have access to your username/password.
For notes, right click anywhere on the book (ideally near the text to which you wish to draw attention) and select "Add highlight and note" from the menu that pops up. Next, click on "Add Note" and enter your text. Finally, click on "Add" to save your note.
To highlight a portion of the text, click and hold where you wish the highlight to begin, and drag to the end of your desired excerpt (this will highlight your passage in black). Next, right click on the blackened area, and select "Add highlight and note" from the menu that pops up. Finally, select "Add Highlight" (this will turn the text of your passage red).
My Chapter Book's bookmarks and notes/highlights keep disappearing!
Both the bookmark, and the notes/highlight features are cookied onto your computer. Deleting your history/cookies automatically deletes your saved TumbleBooks bookmarks and notes. This also means that in order to view your bookmarks or notes, you will need to use the same computer each time.
